The discovery of a planet located in close proximity to our solar system and whose characteristics are similar to that of our planet, was held at the world of astronomy.
The exoplanet, dubbed GJ 1214b, is located 40 light years away and orbits a red dwarf star. Rate would be rocky, with plenty of water, but astronomers still can not identify what state it is (may be liquid water or ice water).
far exoplanet is the only "Super-Earth-mass planets, which lie between Earth and Neptune, whose atmosphere has been confirmed and, thanks to its proximity, astronomers hope to one day to study.
According to the leader of the group of astronomers from the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics in Massachusetts that made the discovery (David Charbonneau), the planet is in our neighborhood (in astronomical terms), so that is within what they call our cosmic neighborhood.

The size of the extrasolar planet would be three times that of Earth, being 6 , 5 times more massive. This makes it the second smallest planet discovered outside our solar system, located behind the exoplanet called CoRoT-7b and has 1.7 times the size of Earth and its mass is five times higher than ours.
The enthusiasm shown by astronomers at this discovery relates to the fact that every day is closer to the discovery of an exoplanet similar to ours and that is located in what scientists call the "habitable zone ".
